Do you have any questions about Music and me? Please contact me if the below list does not help.

What can you expect at your child’s piano lesson?

During a lesson your child will participate in musical activities both on and off the piano to build confidence, increase enjoyment and encourage musical development. Games, theory and songs will keep your child engaged and looking forward to the next lesson. The aim is to ensure the music lesson experience is both positive and enjoyable.

Is my child ready for piano lessons?

Your never too old, and rarely too young ..... however there are a few questions you can ask to help determine if your child is ready. Have they shown interest in the piano, how is their attention span, how is their hand and arm strength, what do they already know and how do they deal with frustration. Please see the blog - Is my child ready for piano lessons - for more details.

What about adult piano lesson?

It doesn’t matter how old you are, the aim is still to ensure the music lesson experience is both positive and enjoyable. Lessons will also include games and theory elements to provide a broader musical experience.

Lesson length, cost and payment

Lessons are 30 minutes per week @ £15, structured around the school calendar with 12 weeks per term. Term block booking is required to secure your space.

Payment is required in advance, two weeks before term starts. You will receive an invoice with full payment details.

Term dates

Term dates will be sent out prior to the term starting.

Summer holiday

Whilst having a break is beneficial, the summer holiday can be quite long, additional lessons will be available and can be arranged during the summer term.

Parents’ role

Even if you have no musical experience there will be lots of opportunity to be involved. You can help your child to be successful by providing a home instrument, adding regular time at the piano and sitting with your child to assist with practise and homework.

Music studied and what you will need to buy

Music and me uses the Piano Safari method, adults will study different methods depending on previous experiences and aims of the lessons. Pupils will be expected to have their own copy of the repertoire and theory book. Full details will be given when lessons are confirmed.

Where to go during your child’s lesson

Music and me is on Cambridge Road, a short walk or drive to Walsworth Common, Purwell Meadows both with children’s play parks. There are also number of walking options round the Purwell estate including Willian Road, Kingswood Avenue and Purwell Lane.

Tesco Express, at the train station, is within driving distance for any emergency items forgotten for dinner or tomorrows lunch box.

Millstream pub is just up the road for a quick coffee, in the other direction you will find Wyevale Garden Centre.

As a home studio I do not have a waiting room. Whilst not the most glamorous of locations, chairs will be available outside the room where the lessons take place.
